H3N2: flu virus subtype

H3N2 is a subtype of the influenza A virus that can cause illness in humans and animals. The H3N2 virus was first identified in humans in 1968 and has since caused several influenza outbreaks around the world. Like other influenza viruses, H3N2 can mutate and evolve rapidly, making it difficult for the human immune system to recognize and fight off the virus. This has led to the development of new strains of H3N2 over the years, which can cause seasonal flu epidemics and occasionally pandemics.  Symptoms of H3N2 infection are similar to those of other flu viruses and can include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, and fatigue. In severe cases, H3N2 infection can lead to complications such as pneumonia, bronchitis, and sinus infections.
